Oitavos Dunes

Portugal

The Oitavos golf course, designed by Arthur Hills in 2001, lies in the Sintra-Cascais nature park. During its construction, particular attention was paid to integrating the course into the natural features of the landscape. The golf course is located in beautiful, natural surroundings, nestled between pine trees and dunes. You can see the Atlantic from every tee. The view of the Sintra Mountains and Cabo da Roca, the most westerly point of Europe, also creates unforgettable memories. For its protection of flora and fauna, the golf course, in collaboration with Audobon International, was awarded certification by an American environmental protection organisation. Some areas of the golf course are off-limits to people and machines. Oitavos Golf is the first golf course in Europe and one of only two worldwide to have achieved Gold "Certified Signature Sanctuary" status. The course is already one of the best golf courses in Europe.
